Radiant In-Floor Heating

If you are looking for an innovative and efficient solution to your heating needs, radiant in-floor heating is the best investment you can make. Radiant in-floor heating provides superior comfort compared to traditional heating methods. The difference between traditional heating and radiant in-floor heating is the forcing of air. In traditional heating methods, air that is heated is then forced to the top of a room, relying on circulation. This is obviously a method that will waste heated air as it may be lost through any cracks, such as windows and doors. Relying on circulation makes for cold spots and over-heated spots. Just think of the reference to old houses being drafty and cold.

Radiant in-floor heating provides a new type of heating comfort known as thermal comfort. Thermal comfort is defined as the point at which your body feels comfortable and at ease with the surrounding environment. Radiant in-floor heating eliminates the need for circulation as tubing in or under your floor radiates heat, creating thermal comfort, while potentially saving you 20% to 30% of your heating expenses. This is a tremendously efficient heat transfer method of heating your home. Radiant in-floor heating will keep your home evenly and consistently warm while using less energy. Ike's Heating and Cooling specializes in radiant in-floor heating installation.

Ike's Heating and Cooling uses these quality products:
  • Wirsbo PEX Tubing-Flexible and durable. Wirsbo is the original innovator of manufactured PEX tubing.
  • Viega Pexfit Fosta and Pexfit Plus-Featuring internal polyethylene-Xc piping, to ensure thermal stability and eliminate expansion and rupture.

Wirsbo PEX Tubing

Wirsbo is the leader in the polyethylene (PEX) pipe industry. Founded in 1620 in Virsbo, Sweden, Wirsbo began by forging high-quality steel and weapons for the King of Sweden. Then, in the early 1900s, the company became the leader of steel plumbing and heating pipe manufacturing in Northern Europe. By the 1950s, Wirsbo was producing high- and low-density polyethylene pipes. In 1968, Dr. Thomas Engel developed a method to chemically crosslink polyethylene (PEX). This resulted in a revolutionary new material for the piping industry. Although many questioned the viability of the new crosslinked polyethylene for large scale manufacturing, Wirsbo successfully developed a process and brought the world PEX tubing.

Wirsbo incorporated in the United States in 1984. In 1988, Wirsbo joined Uponor (oop-ä-nôr). Today Wirsbo, with Uponor, is part of a highly esteemed group of companies that are considered to be the most innovative pipe manufacturers in the world.

These are a few of the high-quality, tubing innovations from Wirsbo:
  • hePEX™ Plus: PEX tubing with an oxygen diffusion barrier
  • MultiCor™: Semi-rigid, multi-layered composite tubing
  • Wirsbo PEX Tubing

Viega Tubing

Viega was established in 1899. With strict quality management, Viega has created a reputation for producing high-quality, user-friendly piping systems. Viega has developed innovative solutions with Pexfit Fosta™ and Pexfit Plus™ piping and flexible piping. Pexfit Fosta™ is a polyethylene-Xc pipe that has an additional supporting aluminum layer, which acts as an oxygen barrier and reduces linear expansion. Pexfit Fosta™ ensures thermal stability, compressive strength, and creep rupture strength. Pexfit Plus™ is high quality flexible tubing that is simple to use directly from the coil for tee or manifold solutions. The flexible pipe-in-pipe system is highly desirable for simple installations, soundproofing, and condensation damp-proofing. Both of these piping systems are suitable for heating and sanitary installations, as well as being corrosion-resistant and incrustation-free. Viega values high quality, innovation, and safety with their piping and flexible piping products.

Viega offers:
  • Pexfit Fosta™
  • Pexfit Plus™
